Lake District Hotel in Grasmere - Bridge House Hotel - Gallery 5Panoramic images of Grasmere and elsewhere in England's Lake District. These may give you a taste of the beauty of the English Lakes landscape but they don't come close to the real experience! Also, visit our Helvellyn page or our Fairfield Horseshoe page for photos from two of our favourite walks in the Lake District.
Walking in the Lake District, especially amongst the high fells, is a breathtaking experience, in every sense. Come and stay at the Bridge House Hotel in Grasmere and you will be surrounded by mountains which can be climbed by most people with sensible clothing, supplies and information. If you consider the views to be good from the valley floor, you won't believe how much better they become after ascending a few hundred feet up a Lake District mountain. The ascent is always exhilarating, the views are your reward and you will also have a satisfying sense of achievement. Not everyone can climb, and there are ways to experience the Lake District at lower levels. Stanley Falls in Eskdale pictured above is just one of many easily approached beauty spots which enable the less energetic to enjoy the beauty of the Lake District. Also, the high mountain passes like Wrynose, Whinlatter and Kirkstone allow motorists to enjoy spectacular views from the car. And just a few yards from the roadside on Hardknott pass is the remains of a Roman Fort - a really special setting and a very evocative place.
