| Conservation in the Lake District
is important to the Bridge House Hotel in Grasmere. We have raised funds
for various conservation projects in Grasmere and elsewhere in the Lake
District. |

We first introduced this scheme in
the year 2000 and, between our Hotel Guests and ourselves, have raised
over £40,000 so far! Guests may opt out of this donation by letting us
know at hotel reception.
All pictures below were supplied by Dave Almond - Grasmere's National
Trust Warden.

Grasmere Lakeshore Footpath
Restoration - Bridge House Hotel's first project.
The pictures show why the
work needed doing and the result of the hard work afterwards. The work
is now complete and natural rejuvenation by plants and wildlife has
already been substantial and will continue to mature.

| When the work is complete the
improvements are obvious. The footpath will protect tree roots from
damage, reduce erosion on the lakeshore and encourage the diversity of
flora and fauna in the area. It has also enabled better access for less
agile visitors. Well worthwhile! So, if you have stayed at the Bridge
House Hotel in Grasmere in the last few years you will have contributed
to this and similar work - well done! You should be proud of yourself! |
